Young Ambassador Representing Slovenia At The Youth Olympic Games 2018

Next year in October 2018, the Summer Youth Olympic Games will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, which traditionally follow the Winter Olympics in the same year. The Youth Olympic Games are presenting an outstanding idea and at the same time an exceptional vision of the young athletes' development.

Young athletes need to compare themselves with each other and grow on their way to the top of the sports achievements, and there is no better environment and opportunity to do so than within the Olympic family of global dimensions in the form of the Olympic Games for young people. At the same time, this event is not only about sport games, but also about developing a social life, as athletes receive a special educational and cultural program. They are becoming part of the Olympic movement with participation. The decision to organize "Youth Olympic Games" was adopted by the International Olympic Committee in 2007. They take place every 4 years and are intended for athletes between the age of 14 and 18.

In addition to sports and competitions, the purpose of the youth Olympic Games is primarily to connect, train and teach Olympic values. One of the key roles in this event is the 'Change Makers', which are selected by the International Olympic Committee among all applicants. The Olympic Committee of Slovenia also announced its candidate this year who will go to Argentina next year, together with the young Olympic team.

Slovenian ambassador is young Katarina Beton, a former badminton player, now a good student at the Faculty of Law in Ljubljana and a participant in the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing in 2014. Katarina says that the Youth Olympic Games were best experience ever so far and the new roles are very pleasing.
