„Apparently bee tourism is a real thing and Slovenia is swarming with it. (See what I did there?) Čebelarstvo Veselič in Metlika has been producing honey for 4 generations, so they’ve gotten pretty good at it. With the help of some of the Big Berry interns as translators, the senior beekeeper gave us a very thorough tour of the property and a look at the honey making/harvesting process.“
With the amount of adventures Maggie had while staying with us, we think she should write a whole book based on this experience. The amazing feeling you get when you spend some time in this beautiful green paradise, surrounded with hills and rivers, only becomes stronger when you get to know the local people. From the hardworking grannies that will show you the traditional way of making linen clothes and share the local bread with you to the younger generations that are still working very hard to spread the word of Bela krajina to the foreigners. They will invite you to their cellar to try some local wine and exchange the life stories.
