BIG BERRY and the Cycle of Sustainability in Local Tourism

Let me start by telling you what we mean by local tourism. It’s what we are doing in Big Berry. We create local experiences for our guests. We bring them to the local attractions, like a secret spring head, an abandon castle, or a hidden viewing point of the city – this sounds quite familiar, right? But maybe less familiar to you, we bring our guests to organic farms, to a multi-generation local winery, to a homemade chocolate factory, or to a beekeeping run by the family of our friend.

And that’s our perspective in building a more sustainable tourism industry.

Local tourism promotes the local businesses, helping local producers sell their products easier in their homeland. Which means, less influence of giant corporates, less carbon footprint in complicated transportation, and higher living condition for local communities.

Local tourism enables local producers to think and act more genuinely. In local tourism, you visit the organic farms, the wine cellars or even the chocolate factory. You see, touch and feel the production process. And by no mean the producers can lie about how responsible they are with their products and the environment. Naturally, producers are more self-conscious about their business ethic, hence, be more responsible.

Big Berry is a partner of Slovenian Tourist Board, Ljubljana Tourism and Green Destinations in the Global Green Destination Day 2016, taking place in Ljubljana in September 27th -28th, 2016. Join us in this event and create an impact on the globe.
